On October 21st, over 150 shortlisted architects and designers from across China gathered at the Kimpton Qiantan Shanghai for the Dezeen China Awards 2025 ceremony, alongside members of the jury and special guests. SHAOXING PLACE by MixC designed by Kokaistudios was recognized as the winner in the Mixed-Use category. Andrea Destefanis, Founder and Principal Architect of Kokaistudios, attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the studio.
The ceremony also featured two discussion panels focusing on the key issues shaping China’s architecture and design industries. Andrea joined Benedict Hobson (Co-CEO of Dezeen), Yichen Lu (principal of Studio Link-Arc), and Alex Mok (co-founder of Linehouse) in a forum exploring how architects are navigating a post-boom reality in China — shifting from large-scale new developments to the preservation, renovation, and adaptive reuse of the existing built environment.
